Vission and Mission
The land of Wandoor is inscribed in golden letters in the pages of the history of resistance struggles whose glory has never faded. It is a place where memories of Pulikkottil Hyder Sahib still beat like a drum. Vellakkattu Manakkal Cheriya Narayanan Bhattathiripad laid the first foundation stone for Wandoor’s educational progress.
This land also holds the stories of Karunalaya, Wandoor’s first healthcare institution, which bear witness to an entire era. The famous place of worship at Pallikkunnu, where the sound of the nagara drum echoes amid cultural heritage and ancestral traditions; the ancient Shiva temple in Wandoor; and St. Mary’s Church in Vaniyambalam together illuminate the region’s religious and cultural heritage.
Wandoor is a leading centre in the district for education, commerce, arts, and sports. The Wandoor Block Panchayat comprises six grama panchayats—Thrikkalangode, Mampad, Wandoor, Porur, Thiruvali, and Pandikkad—situated in the Eranad and Nilambur taluks.
The ongoing mission of the Wandoor Block Panchayat is to elevate the living standards of the people by leveraging modern development opportunities while preserving history and heritage. The Block Panchayat aims to achieve a more inclusive and sustainable rural development through the active participation of Grama Panchayats, elected representatives, various government departments, development agencies, voluntary organizations, and the general public.
